This publication marks the exhibition Affinities by David Gates and Helen Carnac at the Crafts Study Centre September 2025 to January 2026. The exhibition explored the relationship between local environment, rural contexts, and studio practice and the points of connection, correspondence, and analogy that have emerged between Helen and David’s work over the last twenty years. It includes essays in response to the exhibition’s themes by the artists, Dr. Paul Harper, and the Director of the Crafts Study Centre, Stephen Knott.
