All my work is hand thrown and turned stoneware. No machines or moulds are used and the traditional techniques have taken many years to perfect. The pottery does not try to mimic the past but draws on skills rarely practiced today.

Born in 1954, Jonathan Garratt grew up with his father’s collection of Ming porcelain from Shanghai in 1948 and Sierra Leone narrowstrip weaving bought in 1940 as curtains in the living room. Pots and textiles were normal.

I have a very loose approach to making and I like the sense of freedom that comes with experiment. I work in abstract form, two constant themes being colour and music. Colour for me has a lyrical energy and exuberance that resonates with music and a vibrant use of colour has become a signature of my work.

Helen is a local artist and has been working at the Crafts Study Centre for the last year. Her passion is for drawing, colour and print. With a degree in Illustration from Liverpool and an MA in Narrative Illustration from Brighton, Helen was Artist in Residence at Ochre Print Studio in Guildford during 2018.

I have always been torn between ceramics and textiles and from one bout of depression to another my work has focused for weeks at a time on one or the other. Enjoyment of colour ( Les Fauves) and surfaces play within both practices.

Rosie is a graduate from the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham with a BA (Hons) in Metalwork. Previously a resident in The Sorting Office Studios in Eastleigh, she now has her own studio and gallery in Lymington in the New Forest.

Based in North Hampshire, Samantha splits her time between making ceramics in her studio at home with working in the adult education sector. She produces a range a of hand made terracotta planters and functional ware using wheel thrown and hand building techniques.

Tami is a Japanese glass maker and artist. In 1999 she completed a BA specialising in Glass at Kurashiki University of Science and the Arts in Japan. She then went on to complete an MA in Craft and Design (Glass) at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, Surrey. She now lives in Japan where she works at a craft gallery in Kurashiki whilst continuing to create her own individual glass pieces.
