Bernard Leach was a great supporter of the Crafts Study Centre. He donated a substantial number of his own ceramics, including rare early pieces. And he also donated his personal study collection of Oriental Ceramics and early English pottery, also a substantial archive of writings, diaries, photographs and extensive correspondence. More recently a notable gift of the metal plates used by Leach for his etchings between 1908 and the mid 1920s which have formed the basis for the theme of the exhibition. A new book, Simon Olding, The etchings of Bernard Leach is published in partnership with The Leach Pottery, St Ives.
