Tina : Project Introduction

The project and the series of workshops are related to the theme of Georgian Blue Tablecloths. The first work created by me was developed using the essential ornaments that are dominant in the tablecloths.

I started creating the composition by collecting the existing ornaments. I developed the outline and set it up on a piece of paper, a process that continued for a day. Afterwards, during the following day in the laboratory I stretched a white natural cotton fabric on a special printing table.

I prepared the ink, printing materials and started printing (for this process chemical dye was used). Printing was accomplished in several steps or stages, for which I used various printing devices, a matrix (this is a transparent fabric stretched on a special solid frame. The image is transferred onto a fabric in advance). This process continued for several days. The result is evident and is called echo. My following blog and work will focus on dying process using natural indigo dye and utilizing cold dyeing technique.
