Tina : 'Blue Dream', Shibori on silk

My current work is done using Shibori painting technique. Dyeing with Shibori technique gives a vivid, colorful effect. The composition is associated with the theme of the “blue tablecloth”.

While working on the piece I used dyed fabrics and plants. I placed various plastic forms on the white silk fabric, together with the plants. Afterwards, the composition was covered with dyed fabrics, wetted, covered with the polyethylene and wrapped around the tube. Finally, the piece was sealed tightly and placed in boiling water for 50 minutes.

After removing the piece from the water, the resulting textile had vivid, fine art effects. After drying, by using wooden prints and white dye I made a pattern with selected ornaments. As a final result synthesis of Shibori dyeing and printing was developed, the name of the piece is “Blue Dream”.
